Appearance
- crossed or misaligned eyes
- red-rimmed, encrusted or swollen eyelids
- inflamed or watery eyes
- recurring styes (infections) on eyelids
Behavior
- avoids close work
- holds reading material closer than normal
- rubs eyes frequently
- turns or tilts head to use only one eye
- blinks more than usual
- squints
- covers one eye
- irritable when doing close work
Complaints
- eyes itch, burn or feel scratchy
- cannot see well
- headaches, dizziness or nausea following close work
- blurred or double vision
