Prevent Blindness Ohio (PBO) is offering preschool vision screening training and equipment to volunteers who serve children in school and health care settings. PBO also offers an online recertification course for those screeners whose three-year vision screening certification has expired.
PBO is working cooperatively with the America Academy of Pediatrics-Ohio Chapter to develop a medical education program for family practice and pediatric interns, residents and primary care nursing staff to educate them on eye health and the importance of vision assessment in children.
In an effort to educate children and adults in Ohio about how to keep their eyes healthy and safe, PBO has developed the following programs:
- Wise About Eyes, developed in cooperation with Boonshoft Museum of Discovery located in Dayton, Ohio.
- Wild About Eyes, developed in cooperation with Boonshoft Museum of Discovery located in Dayton, Ohio
- Play It Safe with Your Eyes
- Science of Sports COSI on Wheels
- Wise About Eyes Exhibit-To-Go
All of the programs are made possible by a grant from the Save Our Sight Fund.
